I've had the pleasure of working with Kareen in many different capacities for the last eight years. Some of these experiences include co-presenting to elemetary students on the topic of healthy relationships and organizing and delivering a two-part conference for parents/caregivers, educators, and other youth serving proffesionals on the topic of youth resiliency. Kareen is compassionate, kind, intelligent, and posseses strong communication and leadership skills. She's passionate about supporting the well-being of children and in building capacity among families and service providers. Kareen is one of the warmest people I have ever known and she makes everyone she comes in contact with feel acknowledged and supported.

I can describe Kareen with 3 c’s — she is compassionate, competent and committed to promoting well-being and SEL in children and youth. Over the years of working with her I was impressed by her professionalism and her calm, supportive manner as well as her insights to program development. I always knew that if Kareen was involved the project would be a success!

As the chair of our Family Foundation, the Edith Lando Charitable Foundation, I have appreciated working with Kareen to ensure our resources have a significant positive impact in the community. Kareen's strong social work background and values, as well as deep level of caring for children in our community, shine through in her work. I have been impressed with her ability to effectively blend this lens with solid business practices, allowing her to lead her organization in the development of a highly acclaimed social emotional learning program for students in Vancouver schools.

Over the years I've worked closely with Kareen on a variety of projects that include production of a film resource for children now widely used in schools; development of a training curriculum for counsellors; and collaboration on a community advisory committee, which she chaired. In all these instances Kareen worked from a place of integrity, commitment and authenticity that serve to guide her as a first choice consultant and effective, skilled and compassionate counsellor.

I have worked closely with Kareen Hudson for many years. She has been both my supervisor and colleague.
She is a skilled and resourceful clinician who connects with children of all ages, and an insightful and creative practitioner who really listens to her clients. She has had many years of experience running transformative groups for both children and adults. She instill a sense of agency in her clients and really helps them connect with the self that they want to be. She has shown talent and expertise in the area of program developmen and is
a reflective practioner who values and furthers her professional development. She continually refines her practice and implements new learning and ideas. Kareen has a positive impact with all clients she works with.

I first met Kareen Hudson 20 years ago. At that time she was running the child-counseling program through Vancouver Family Services and I was a donor to that program. I became involved in the program as a volunteer giving me the opportunity of getting to know Kareen both on a professional and personal level. On both counts, she struck me as someone who had an extraordinary mix of intelligence, composure, and a genuine caring for her clients.

My relationship with Kareen continues to this day. She is a long-time member of the Board of Directors for Stand Tall Education that funds a Primary school in Kampala, Uganda. As the project manager and Board Chair for Stand Tall, I have come to rely on Kareen’s ability to analyze situations, and to offer workable solutions. What I appreciate most about Kareen is her empathy towards others, her inter-personal skills and her years of experience working with both adults and children.

I’ve worked with Kareen in my role as Coordinator at BC Yukon Society of Transition Houses in various capacities including curriculum and manual development, training facilitation, mental health evaluation, and steering committee participation, as well as through a joint collaboration with BC Children’s Hospital in writing publications for children exposed to domestic violence. Kareen also played a key role in the development of the Violence Is Preventable Program which linked schools across BC with Children Who Witness Abuse program in the province.

I trust, admire and value Kareen and her valuable contributions to children’s counseling programs across BC. She carries the unique ability to articulate not only a “big picture analysis” but has also the ability to take theory into practice. Any organization would be very lucky to benefit from her expertise, knowledge and experience.
